What is Prayer?

Prayer is an expression of Love for God, an expression of gratitude for God and above all, an expression of our willingness for God. We must remember God not when we are in distress but when we are happy. That is the first step in developing unselfish love for God.

O LORD!

Make me an instrument of Your Peace!

Where there is hatred, let me sow Love; Where there is injury, Pardon; Where there is discord, Unity; Where there is doubt, Faith; Where there is error, Truth; Where there is despair, Hope; Where there is sadness, Joy; Where there is darkness, Light.

O Divine Master!

Grant that I may not seek To be consoled, as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved, as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, It is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

Devotional Singing (Bhajans)

"Devotional singing (bhajan) is one of the processes by which you can train the mind to expand into eternal values. Teach the mind to revel in the glory and majesty of God; wean it away from petty horizons of pleasure . . . Devotional singing induces in you a desire for experiencing the truth, to glimpse the beauty that is God, to taste the bliss that is the Self. It encourages man to dive into himself and be genuinely his real Self."

- BABA (SSS VII, 497-498)

Bhajans are held at our centre every 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month from 4.30pm to 5.30pm. This provides an opportunity for the devotees to engage in congregational singing of the Lord's name. Sai bhajans are simple both in tune and in meaning and have the innate power to provide peace and spiritual energy to participants.

Regular practice sessions will be held at the centre to help aspiring bhajan singers (of all ages) to hone their singing abilities under the guidance of our bhajan coaches.

Multifaith:

"There is only one religion; the religion of Love.
There is only one language; the language of the Heart.
There is only caste; the caste of Humanity.
There is only one God, He is Omnipresent."

Sri Sathya Sai Baba

The Sathya Sai Organisation embraces people from all faiths in order to focus on universal spirituality. It's aim is to foster universal spiritual principles such as human values common to all religions, enabling us to become better human beings. Our worship and study focuses on One Reality, God, existent in all beings. Thus the multi-faith prayers conducted in our Organisation create a sense of unity in diversity. A prayer, simply put, is a conversation with God. With this in mind, we should pray in a way that pleases God. God hears every prayer no matter what method or language of praying we use; speaking, singing, or thinking. Even our actions can be a prayer to God.

Veda Chanting

Excerpts from Vedas are chanted regularly at the centre during the bhajans and in all special spiritual events.
